The Sunday Salon 08.16.09

This past week was a bit eventful in my own bookland. On Monday I opened my inbox to find out I won a copy of Tasha Alexander's Tears of Pearl - from Goodreads - which is being released September 1st. It's book four in her Lady Emily mystery series. This was the first giveaway I ever won and I was excited that it was the latest book in a series I already loved.

I only finished reading one book this week: What Angels Fear by C.S. Harris. I immediately started the next book in the series When Gods Die last night and am already intrigued. Good historical mystery series are hard to come by, if you ask me, and this seems to be a good one, so far.

Other books I'm currently reading are two non fiction books: The Writer's Guide to Everyday Life in Regency and Victorian England 1811-1901 by Kristine Hughes and 1776 by David McCullough. The former is the latest in a bunch of books I've read about the Victorian era. The latter I found at Half Priced books a few weeks ago for $7. It's the first in a bunch of books I hope to read about the American Revolution. See, I'm an amateur writer and I recently had enter my brain an epic story set in the American Revolution and I hope to educate myself as much as possible before NaNoWriMo this November.

Lastly, last night I created a Twitter page just for my blog. The Twitter gadget doesn't seem to be working, so I just added a spiffy graphic to the right column.

If you have a Twitter for your book blog, let me know and I'll follow ya.

Ta for now!
