NaNoWriMo!

National Novel Writing Month starts 10 hours from now (in my timezone)! Are you participating? Are you ready for it?

The last two years I wrote historical fiction (shocker), but this year I'm trying something different. I'm writing... fantasy! I don't read a lot of fantasy, so this came out of nowhere, but I love my story. The characters and storyline are so clear to me that I must write this. I can tell you what this fantasy story doesn't have and that is: vampires, werewolves, zombies. This story has witches, but the story itself is rooted in reality.

I realize in writing fantasy for the first time: I must think of names for everything. Everything. Towns, streets, objects, etc. It gets a bit tedious, but I found some great name generator sites that'll help me:

Fantasy Name Generator
TheForge
Serendipity

I'm going to have fun with this, and try not to stress out too much. This is my third year and I won my first two years, so I know I can do it!

I've put a word count widget on my sidebar, so you can see how I'm doing. Here's my profile if you want to be buds. I'll add you back!

Oh, and I've already created a 'cover' for my story. What do you think?

I had fun making it!

Good luck to those who are participating!

Oh, I'm so jealous -- I've no clear NaNo plot this year -- my friends are chiding me to do one of those paranormal historicals that are so hot (and are my guilty pleasures) but I'm not sure I've got it in me. I'm embarking on my 10th NaNo -- and I haven't won a single one yet! Still -- I love the silliness and the practice and the community.

the cover looks like a romance, I think it's the roses at the top but it's a good start

good luck!
