Women Unbound Start-of-Challenge Meme

I'm joining the Women Unbound challenge, but first, the fine people hosting the challenge put up this meme for us to do first.

1. What does feminism mean to you? Does it have to do with the work sphere? The social sphere? How you dress? How you act?

It is about being looked at for what I can do, for my intelligence and my talents. It's not about being judged by my looks or if I'm married of if I have children or not.

2. Do you consider yourself a feminist? Why or why not?

Sometimes I think, "Hell yes, I am a feminist!" but I do not think I am. For one thing, I don't have an exact definition of what a feminist is, because I don't think there is one.

3. What do you consider the biggest obstacle women face in the world today? Has that obstacle changed over time, or does it basically remain the same?

God, I could be here all day. In a nutshell: EXPECTATIONS. Women are expected to get married and have children. And if they don't want to, they are met with, "Oh, you'll get over that." Get over what? I could be a best selling novelist, I could climb Mt. Everest, but if I do not chain myself to a man and reproduce, then I am a failure at life. I am a spinster or an old maid, while an unmarried man is considered a bachelor. Double standards. I am sick of it.

Have you got a link to this chellenge, I'm thinking of doing the support your local library challenge but I like the sound of this as well.
All the very best and a great weekend

Amen, sistah :-) I agree. Women are all expected to want the same thing, but men can want any number of different things...
