The "Shaysites" were a group of mostly poor farmers who revolted against debt and crushing taxes. Failure to pay these taxes usually left people in debtor's prison.
The rebellion lasted until January of 1787.
Without a doubt, Shays' Rebellion was one of the biggest blunders of this young nation, who still had a lot of growing up to do.
