The Sunday Salon 10.25.09

Happy Sunday!

I didn't get as much reading done as I planned. My attention span was not good last week. I did finish two books and start two others. The ones I finished were The Nonesuch by Georgette Heyer. Wasn't my favorite Heyer, but still a good one. I also finally finished The Greatest Knight by Elizabeth Chadwick. I enjoyed it, as well. As for starting, I finally got around to reading Wolf Hall by Hilary Mantel. I'm 100+ pages in and after a slow start, it's finally grabbed me. It took a while to get used to the writing style. I also started a non fiction book called Jane Austen: The World of Her Novels by Deirdre Le Faye. Very informative, thus far.

I'm on bit of an Austen kick lately. I watched Becoming Jane yesterday for the Period Drama Challenge and will get around to making a post about it, eventually. I liked it more than I thought. If you look at it as a purely fictional film, it's not bad.

This week I start my planning for my NaNoWriMo novel. EEK! I'm going to have a panic attack.

Have a good week!

Looking forward to your review of Wolf Hall. Much as I think award winning books are generally worth reading, I still like to hear what regular readers are thinking. The Austen book sounds interesting; love Austen.
