Teaser Tuesdays 10.06.09

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly meme hosted by Should Be Reading. Here's how it works:

*Grab your current read.
*Open to a random page.
*Share two (2) "teaser" sentences from somewhere on that page.
*BE CAREFUL NOT TO USE SPOILERS.
*Include the title and author so others can add it to their TBR list.

My Teaser:

What had I done? Assisted the victim of of the most horrible of all false imprisonments to escape; or cast loose on the wide world of London an unfortunate creature, whose actions it was my duty, and every man's duty, mercifully to control?

From The Woman in White by Wilkie Collins.

Wonderful teaser. I have The Woman in White in my to-be-read -pile waiting to be reread, as I have read it once many years ago.

My teaser is here, if you want to take a look:http://abookblogofonesown.blogspot.com/2009/10/chapter-23-teaser-tuesday-6102009.html

Sounds a bit misogynistic. Or perhaps I'm misreading it. But great teaser, nonetheless.

Mine's here.

I can see how it would sound that way reading the passage on its own, but it's not misogynistic when read in context.

This book is on my nightstand right now. I'm not sure whether to start this one next or Rebecca. How are you liking this one?

I'm about a 1/3 of the way through and I'm very intrigued to find out what's going to happen.

The Woman in White is a rollercoaster ride. I just read it last month. Couldn't put it down once I started. I read the same edition as the one you posted here.

That's definitely a good way to describe it.

I'll be curious to see how you liked this book. I read it a few months ago but wasn't as crazy about it as I thought I would be. I have heard that The Moonstone is actually better so this is what I'll be reading next to compare.
