I recently viewed the most marvelous film The Young Victoria, which I utterly loved. I don't think I could recommend it enough. To period drama lovers; to history lovers; you will adore it.
Unlike my fellow historical fiction lovers, I am not crazy about royalty (shocker, I know), but even I loved this. It was a beautiful film with just the right amount of drama, romance and splendor. The costumes and scenery are not overdone and the acting is beyond brilliant.
Go see it, if you have not.
And I am currently listening to the score by Ilan Eshkeri. If you end up loving the film, get the soundtrack. The music is gorgeous.

I want to go see this but haven't been able to talk the hubby into it yet. If he doesn't agree soon, I'm taking another date!
I've definitely been meaning to see this- glad to hear it's good! :)
You're right, the soundtrack is great , I have to get, Christy. And I loved the movie too, though I could only watch it on DVD. I don't think we'll see it in theatres in Italy. In England instead, it came out last spring and the DVD was released soon after. Cheers and Happy 2010!
I love it when the sound track is awesome, it ads so much to the movie. I am really looking forward to seeing this film.

I was going to go see it today with a friend...but its not playing here yet. :(
Ohhh, I've been dying to see this! I love period films, unfortunately couldn't talk boyfriend into going to see it so I'll be waiting for the DVD!
It's pretty decent. Although I found the movie's position that Albert's interference in Victoria's sovereign duties as something to be celebrated, rather sexist and offensive.
I doubt that screenwriter Julian Fellows would have conveyed the same position if Victoria and Albert's genders were switched.
