Top Ten Tuesday 04.19.11

Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted over at The Broke and the Bookish. This week's Top Ten is Top Ten Rewind. It's a chance for folks to go back into the Top Ten archives and do a Top Ten they missed out on.

I picked Top Ten Favorite Debuts from February 1st.

  1. The Tea Rose by Jennifer Donnelly
  2. The House at Riverton by Kate Morton
  3. The Thirteenth Tale by Diana Setterfield
  4. The Bells by Richard Harvell
  5. Mariana by Susanna Kearsley
  6. The Mistress of the Revolution by Catherine Delors
  7. Juliet by Anne Fortier
  8. Cut to the Quick by Kate Ross
  9. Alice I Have Been by Melanie Benjamin
  10. The Many Lives & Secret Sorrows of Josephine B. by Sandra Gulland
Some of these are on my all-time favorite book list. I didn't realize how many of them were debuts!

The Thirteenth Tale and Many Lives and Secret Sorrows of Josephine B. were two books I really enjoyed. In fact the one turned me on to reading more Gothic stories and the other turned me on to reading more Historical stories. Funny how that happens.

I LOVED The Thirteenth Tale, and I can't wait for the next book, if Setterfield will ever publish one, Just want to correct you about Jennifer Donnelly- The Tea Rose wasn't her debut book, but The Northern Light- or The Gathering Light.

Great list.

Thanks, Mage, but The Tea Rose was published in 2002 and The Gathering Light was published in 2003. Donnelly even said on her website that Tea Rose was her first. :)

Great, great list! I agree with many of them but I am most happy to see the inclusion of Cut to the Quick, the first in Kate Ross' sadly all too short Julian Kestrel series. I recently found out that this 1st book has been re-released, (with not the greatest of covers in my opinion) and hope it will bring more readers to this wonderful series.
